    Hello everyone,

    As of yesterday, I started noticing that my Dell Studio 15 1558 acting up.

    When I start my laptop from a cold start up (leave the computer off all night and turn it on in the morning or afternoon, usually when I get back from class). I noticed that the black boot up/POST screens turn a dark blue and the screen begins to flicker madly and fuzzy lines start appearing on screen as well.

    This morning was the worst though. I turned on my computer in the morning and noticed that everything I mentioned above and the fuzzy lines appeared on the bottom half of my screen rendering the screen pretty much unusable.

    But here is my issue. As I let the computer warm up a little, everything becomes perfectly normal. No issues. No flickering. No blueish tinge to the screen. Nothing.

    I don't understand this. What could be the issue (video chipset or screen)? Should I be concerned? Has this happened to anyone else?

    Thanks for your time. Any input would be wonderful.

    I would first run the Dell Diagnostics just to make sure all your hardware is in tip top shape.

    Then:

    - Try to display externally to replicate issue. If external is normal, then your LCD/cable is borked. Call up Dell if you are under warranty

    If you get the same issues on the external monitor;

    - Remove battery and AC adapter and hold down power button for 30 seconds 2-3 times

    - Reseat RAM

    - Use known good RAM

    - Boot from a Linux boot disc to rule out drivers, or you can try reinstalling the GPU driver.

    - Reinstall Windows

    To add to this - press and hold the D keyboard key while pressing the power button to turn the PC on. This will run a display panel diagnostic which cycles through a series of solid colors.

    The OP said he was getting display problems even on the BIOS startup screen, so it isn't a Windows issue.
