Anyone know why the $50 1440x900 option on nearly all Dell 15.4" notebooks isn't available on the Studio 15? There's only the LED back-lit display available at that resolution but it's a $150 option (in Canada).

I'll probably be in the market for a new notebook some time next month as my Inspiron 2650 has been given me trouble. The Studio 15 is a strong contender on my list but the lack of an affordable display upgrade option is frustrating. I would certainly prefer > 1280x800 on a 15.4" notebook.

Call Dell and see if a rep can put it on an order for you. If not, the LED screen really is beautiful :)

Thanks Hep. I'll give it a try... hopefully they can help.

I'm sure the LED back lighting is nice, but as a $150 option it puts the total cost of the notebook over $800 at which point I start looking at offerings from other brands.

I am fairly certain if you pitch it to them like that they will offer you either a discount on the LED LCD or will put in a non LED display. Good luck!
