So I thought I'd post my experience so far with Dell up on here to hopefully help some people relax about their order a little.
Wed, 2nd September - Order placed with Dell. Studio 15 laptop (£579 model).
Thurs, 3rd September - Pre Production early on in the day and stayed there all day. I was worried!
Friday 4th September - Into production early in the morning.
Sunday 6th September - Into phase 4, pre-shipping around lunchtime and then shipped later on at night.
Monday 7th September - Now got a link in the order status page to track my package but it doesn't work yet! Dell claims shipping will take 2-5 days so I should have my laptop this week!
-
On the 3rd Businesday phone walsh western and they will arrange for the delivery am or pm. -
01Ten, the tracking may not ever work, some people on the forums here have said that in the past tracking doesn't appear till after the delivery date.
In some cases tracking appears the day you are due a phonecall.... -
Thanks for the replies guys!
I will give Walsh Western a call on Wednesday and, hopefully, I will have my laptop come friday! -
Ordered the 28th of August, My laptop comes tomorrow before 1:30PM apparently. And my tracking code still doesn't work. You will get an automated phone call telling you when it will arrive.
It takes a while, Just be patient -
Ok guys, so I'm typing on my Dell Studio 15 right now!
I got the automated call yesterday about the delivery date and time and just accepted it as I did not want any delays! I was in the house ayway.
Kudos to Dell though, they've got my laptop to me within the week! Fantastic. -
Yep got mine today too.
Awesome machine -

I read the chainlink is a dust magnet and I got the colour upgrade free so went for it...
One annoying thing is you get fingerprints all over the black gloss around the screen (especially at the top when opening and closing) and the keyboard.
Not a huge issue but doesn't look nice -
Yep the Midnight Blue is nice. Preferred it to the black (less dust) and seems hard wearing.
Touchpad gets warm but I find it no problem. A purely great machine -
To be honest, the black does gather a few fingerprints but it isn't a big deal and it's stayed nice so far for me! Plus, I like the chainlink as it breaks up the colours and is a bit different.
