    Hi Guys,

Just wondering, with the new i5/i7 based Dell Studio 15's, how difficult is it to upgrade the HDD, CPU and RAM?

I'm technically competent with computers and happy to void my warranty etc, I'm more wondering if there are any physical/software oddities in place with Dell laptops that makes a CPU or SSD upgrade a difficulty (for instance only certain i7 CPU's will work, or only certain SSD's etc).

    Cheers

HDD and RAM are easy, they're under the bottom cover plate. CPU requires complete disassembly. No idea how high the BIOS will let you go.

Is the CPU soldered these days? I did not think you could upgrade the CPU ...

Hmmm, I have my suspicions that the BIOS could be restrictive even if the CPU can be physically installed.
