I ordered a Studio 14z laptop thinking it would be sufficient for not very heavy audio recording and editing (I'm basing this assumption on that it has similar components to the MacBook Pro 13" which I remember hearing is decent for audio editing), but after reading a couple of threads (like this one: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=383302), I'm not so sure anymore
here are the specs, I would be using it with an audio interface (such as the Fast Track Pro) and audio editing software (such as protools)
Dell Studio 14z
Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHZ)
3GB, DDR3, 1066MHZ, 1 SoDIMM
320GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 64 Bit (upgradeable to Windows 7)
I'm really looking for smooth use but now I think maybe this system isn't even robust enough to take audio recording/editing... does anyone know how this will perform with audio recording/editing?
also, as a bonus, how far could I go in terms of graphics editing (autoCAD) and video editing?
thanks

For the audio editing someone should run the test here..but for autoCAD and graphics and video editing, it depends on CPU, yours is fine, RAM, 4 GB would be best for video and for rendering autoCAD, and graphics card. I'm not sure how well the 9400 G performs though...
