Basically, I've fallen in love with the Dell Studio 14z Laptop and really wanna get my hands on one, but the problem is, they're not available in the UK store and aparently wont ever be - the US store also offers a lot more designs (200 as opposed to the UK's 8 or so) as well as more configuration options - so I'm stuck, I really want a 14z custom build to meet my requirements - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
The only option I can personally think of is having it sent to someone in the US (which is risky as I dont have any family/friends out there) and then getting them to post it over, but isnt import tax/VAT a bomb + the fore-mentioned risk involved, so this option is far from ideal. I was wondering if there was a company that dealt in ordering and shipping US equiptment world-wide... surely there's got to be a way around it?

The Studio 14z in the US does not have 200 designs to choose from, just 6 solid colors. It's the Studio 15 that has all the designs.

eBay sellers often sell preconfigured laptops, and plenty of them ship internationally. I would look for one from an eBay power seller.

thanks a lot for that mastershroom - im a little confused though, are you saying it would be possible to tell an ebay seller what you want then get them to order/ship it for you?

Where did you find out that it won't be released in the UK?

Well I spoke to Dell reps on both the UK and US's stores and they both strongly hinted it wouldnt - and the guy I rang up said they know 3 months in advance if a new products going to be released and hes heard no word of it at all

That's not good, I was waiting for an NZ release too. We usually get Dell products when the UK store does.

No, sellers on eBay just have pre-made computers, ready to sell; they don't configure your own for you. It's like buying from the Outlet.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Studio 14z has made it onto eBay yet.

I guess what you could do is ask in the NBR Marketplace here and see if anyone is willing to help you out. There are plenty of good people here who would probably be glad to build you a notebook if you pay them, and ship it to you.

I hope this does come to the UK as I want to replace my XPS M1330 fairly soon and this could be ideal. If it doesn't arrive here then that sort of goes against this 14z posting on Dell Ideastorm ie the reference to 'Stop Limiting Products Based On Location' although the person who was complaining was based in the US so maybe the link only exists on that page to highlight that the 14z is available in the US.

I posted an idea concerning this at the Dell ideastorm page. It looks like they do sometimes implement these ideas. Link is here.

i posted also in the ideastorm arequesting uk release & it got moved removed as it was not a valid idea!

You're right its gonna be months if ever. There is no compact good spec good screen equivalent in UK market.
