I'm having a problem with a Dell Studio 1458. The original LED was crack, so I've replaced the LED and the screen was very dimm, almost like if an inverter were out on an LCD. So, I tried everything I can think of including another panel as well as a replacement of the flex cable and still it's very very dimm.

I'm not sure what else could be wrong, I've ran the built in diagnostics and everything checks out.

Any ideas? Bad motherboard?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

LED screens don't have separate inverters. I would replace the panel before the motherboard.

Yes I'm aware LED's do not have separate inverters. Just trying to explain the symptoms. However, the panel has been replaced multiple times to no avail. As well as the flex cable.

If you've ordered a new cable and LCD then you need to change the motherboard. I once had a dim 2006 MBP I was fixing, changed the inverter 4 times before I changed the motherboard (turned out being the motherboard).
