I have been patiently waiting for Dell to release Studio 15 refresh (1555) here in the US. I have been configuring the Studio 15 available at Dell India website to see what options are available and today I ran into this: Dell Studio 14:

    http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/pro...px/laptop-studio-14?c=in&cs=indhs1&l=en&s=dhs

Looks like Dell has started releasing laptops first outside the US (mostly in India and Asia Pacific).

Looks impressive... I might now have to wait for this to show up in the US. !

Update: Oops, looks like this is old news. It was released back in Dec '08. http://www.obsessable.com/news/2008/12/23/dell-studio-14-first-peek-like-the-studio-15-but-smaller/

I was about to post that it has been around for months, but you put in your edit. But wait, do you really mean to say this laptop isn't offered in US or Europe even till now ? Strange , i always thought tech products were slow in making their way here , not the other way around....

Yep... Studio 14 isn't available in the US.

I use a Latitude D630 at work and am very comfortable with the 14" screen and the laptop size. There's no laptop available in the 14" screen size for home users in the US. Wonder why?

Update: Well other than the Inspiron 14. (I must be on a bad streak or something - I'm having to correct myself again and again :)).

I would imagine that once they phase out the 1420 in the U.S. that the Studio 14 would take it's place...then again, maybe the 1420 wasn't a big enough seller in the U.S. to warrant selling the Studio 14 here as well. You'd think it would already be out as they continue to have at least 2 flavors of 15" Laptops selling at the same time, Studio & Inspirion.
