My girlfriend purchased a Dell Studio 14 near the end of August 2010. It runs smoothly, but also freezes frequently. Freezing meaning no keys would function, touchpad does not function, etc.

Have any other Studio owners experienced this?

    Specs:
    - Core i5
    - ATI Video Card
    - 4gb RAM
    - Windows 7 x64 Home Premium

I'll update the BIOS tomorrow and possibly check up on the status of the video card drivers.

All drivers/BIOS are now up to date.

There's also another weird thing that happens. Sometimes when I touch a key (such as Enter), I hear a beep. Nothing else happens though. Computer works like normal.

We called Dell Tech Support and explained our situation. The operator transferred us over to the "software department". The new operator said we might have a corrupt file, and will be required to pay $30 dollars for a new file because software is not covered under warranty (only hardware). We said screw that and hung up.

We noticed that after the computer freezes, and we restart the computer, if we do a key combo (such as CTRL+W for closing tabs in Google Chrome), it would make a weird beep noise. It does this EVERYTIME after each restart. Imagine the sound coming off of a toy ray-gun (PTEW!).

    Will try this soon hopefully.

    Also this.
