HELP I can honestly say that I would never buy a dell again.
the first computer
Dell 1420
1.86 t550 core 2 duo
2 gb ram
8400m gs 256 important
dell wireless n
web cam
laptop is less that 3 months old at this point >.<
I recently bought a Dell 1420, this computer is know to have faulty gpu chips and dell is probably going to have to extend the warranty on the system, but even before that I had over heating issues. The graphics card has hitting temps of 108c, and the processor at 98c. I knew that these were out of the normal temp range for computers so I request to have my computer repaired. After 13 hours on the phone they finaly agreed to send out the box. We will call this issue number 1
Issue Number 2: I get the computer back and it has scrachtes all over it. More than that though the issue is still not fixed. My computer is still overheating like crazy, grr..... So i call dell and again to complain and they say that they can try to fix it again. Unfortnatly for me thats not good enough after calling them 19 times in two days I had to email dell and they would get a esculation services to help me, ok cool I guess. The lady we will call her Jenny, says that they will send me out a laptop that is comparible to the 1420 even though it is an unlike replacement. I was very excited about this but after about a week this happened.
Issue 3
they deiced they were going to send me a 600$ dell 1525 >.< I have no idea what to do about this or if I should even accept it? I will probably have to email them back on Monday because if I cant get this fix then im going to have to take them to a small claims court which I will do but kind of don't want to because of all the work. Truthfully I feel like i should receive something comparable to had I had before. The funny thing is that they are still selling the 1420's knowing that they have this problem (heat) along with the xps 1330's >.<
If anyone can help or share some advice to help me get through this i would be most grateful.

dont take any computer that has specs inferior to your original purchase

that really sucks
but don't forget that though (some of) the gpus are considered defective.........the problem doesn't and will not affect the greater majority of the population (i'm talking m1330s here mostly) -
im thinking that im going to give them a call on monday they have already shipped it out it has seems i should still be able to send it back. Truthfully I dont understand why they do things like this. IS they any way to get them to respond i have heard the 3 times in 1 year period usually gets there attention, I really hate calling them. Thank you 2 for posting looking forward to more.

Just an update for anyone thinking of buying dell.
They have deiced that they will take back the 1525 after much argument, they sent it to me broken (doesn't power on bad motherboard most likely. I still trying to get a like replacement for my 1420 please someone tell me that there is an easier way. If you have any words of encouragement i could use them now.
