I ordered an Inspiron 6000D from Dell last friday. I was just curious, I have heard that they ship your order to you a lot faster than they estimate the shipping date will be.

Those of you that have ordered laptops from Dell recently, did you get your order sooner than expected? If so, how much sooner?

    Thanks!

i got mine a little more than a week earlier than I should have. They also upgraded my shipment to overnight shipping for free since mine was held in boxing for 4+ days. [ :D]

Hey! Well, I placed an online order for my brand-new Dell I6000 this Sunday, and they estimated it would be delivered next Wednesday (May 11th). Now (May 3rd), I've checked my online order status, and it's already in production. I hear they move quite quickly, so I'm hoping to get it before the weekend, or, if not, maybe Monday...any guesses??

Well, I ordered mine last Friday the 29th and it hasnt moved from the order status of pre-production. Pre-production has a check mark, but In production isnt but it states its in producton.

The kitting, etc. hasnt happened yet.

So all Dell computers get assembled overseas? Figures. Nothing is American made anymore.

LOL,I would check it tomorrow. Production went pretty quick (about a day, maybe two) except for the boxing part. The boxing part basically is just when they ship it from Malaysia to Nashville--but it seems like it takes forever.

Mine was supposed to be delayed for 4 days since I got the 60gig 7200rpm, but it was delivered 1 1/2 weeks ago. Actually, I was supposed to get it today.

I guess you were right! I checked it moments ago and it has been built and is now in testing phase. I guess they get shipped to Nashville and then to me.

I live in Tennessee so it shouldnt take long to arrive. No wonder I got charged sales tax!

I have posted this before, but in case you didn't find it, here it is.
I ordered my 6000d on Thursday (3/31) night. It was in testing phase on Saturday and Sunday, then shipped on Monday and received on Tuesday (4/5) with free two day shipping. It was much earlier than the estimated date.

    Dell Inspiron 6000d, Pentium M 750 (1.86 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB), 1GB (2x512MB) 400MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 80GB 5400RPM HD, 128MB ATI X300, 15.4" WSXGA+.

*Sigh*, alright, then it looks like I'm going to be waiting a while! I wanted to get it before the weekend and get everything up and running, but oh well.

Alright, I've ordered my laptop on Sunday (01/05), and when I check my online order status, it lists "In Production", but gives me no details as to what stage of production it's in, or an estimated shipping date, and it's been "In Production" for about four days now...what's the deal? Do I call Dell and harass them? Lol

On mine, if i clicked the order number, then clicked "in production" it would tell me which steps it has completed and where it is at right now. There are 4 steps for In Production. Unfortunately, the only way to check to where it is at is to click on the In Production link.

    Hope this helps,
    Amber

P.S. If its been in production for 4 days, I would guess that it is in boxing stage.

Hm, well, when I click the "In Production" Phase, it brings me to a menu that explains the four different stages of production, but doesn't tell me a thing about where my laptop is. I'll just wait for it to arrive, but I want it nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. (Pouts)

The "Testing" phase was what took longest on mine... but it still showed up about 3 days earlier than estimated.

    Enjoy!

Has anyone here in Canada ever encountered a problem when shipping from the U.S. to Canada? Dell says they shipped out my laptop by Purolator Ground on Saturday, and I'm just curious how the transition between borders works. Thanks![ :)]
