    Hi all,
I have bought 3 Studio 1535 in the last month (the las t one arrived yesterday) with this configuration:

    T8100
    4 GB Ram

    2 DVD-RW unit (TSST TS-T633A)
1 Blu Ray unit (DVDRWBD BC-5600S)

and the optical units all have issues in Vista 32 (and obviously in the 64 bit version)...

    It's unbelievable!

The Bios A05 (July 2008... and we are in October now) didn't fix anything a if I contact the technical support they don't know anything about that and they just say I have to change motherboard and optical unit...
Technical solution that doesn't fix anything... because it's a Bios/compatibility problem.

    Tell me what to do...
Is it possible to contact anyone in Dell that develops the Bios of this machine?

    My problems:

using the TSST TS-T633A Optical unit:

If I Install Vista 64 (SP1 Updated) and I try to use the optical unit Vista freezes...
If I install Vista 32 (SP1 Updated) the system freezes just when I have to install programs that are on 2 CD-ROM.

using the Blu Ray unit Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5600S :

When I shut down the pc and I don't use it a few hours (1-2 hours) at the following boot the multimedial "Eject" button is always on and when I enter in Vista (Ultimate 32 bit SP1 updated) the unit doesn't work and if I try to insert a CD-Rom the unit kickes it out...

Is it possible to contact the Studio 1535 Bios developers to solve these issues?

The technical assistance doesn't do anything... and we still continue with our problems...

    Thank you

    p.s.
Do you know if there is a driver for the Blu Ray Optiarc unit?
I would like to try to solve the problem using a different sw...
Vista installed a generic Microsoft 6.0.6001.18000 driver (06/21/2006)

The TSST drive is well known for not playing well with Vista x64. I haven't seen a solution for it yet.

This is ridiculous...can we at least get confirmation from someone at Dell that this is a known issue and is being worked on?

Same problem with my new Studio 1535 - Vista64 SP1...any time I try to eject the CD/DVD media using the eject button on the top bezel the system simply freezes and a hard restart is required to get the system working again.

I would see if there is a firmware update for the TSST, there was for the 1720. I'm running Vista 64 bit and the TSST is working just fine......................
