I just received my i8600 yesterday..Just for kicks I went to the Dell site to make sure the 4 yr warranty shows up when ya check the service tag...BUT it kept saying "Service Tag Invalid". I dont remember if thier was any lag time with my past two desktop Dell's. Is there..?? I also ran Dells let me find your Service Tag option, it scanned my 8600 and could not find it..!! The service Tag is on the bottom and in the documentation, but again Dell has no record of it when I put it in the apropriate place..Any ideas..??[8)]

The service tag will become valid in about 3 weeks from your invoice date. i just got a 700m, and it took that long until the service tag entered as valid in their system. My best guess is that Dell has the 20 day return policy from invoice date, which i do not remember them having in the past when i bought my two computers from them. considering the service tag becomes valid around the 3 week point, it is highly probable that they wait for the 20 days to input your computer service tag in their system for support so they don't have a bunch of service tags that have been returned in their system. you can check your records using your order number on line though.
