    Hi,
I dropped my computer (Dell Inspiron 600m) and the screen was punctured internally by my the corner of the table . It works fine but there are various vertically lines going down the left side of the screen. And 3 curved segments with even more colored vertical lines. I could arrange to take and email a photo if necessary for your evaluation. PLEASE tell me it can be repaired without much expense, I definitely can not afford to send it into Dell for repair. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!! I anxiously await any of your responses.
Thank you so much for any shared knowledge!!!!

i doubt anyone will know what is wrong with your LCD or how to repair without more information or pictures. You can post pictures on the forum, dont need to use email.

    Welcome to the Forums :)

Step 1: Search ebay for "600m LCD"

    Step 2: Buy

    Step 3: Install

What he said, you can't just fix a bust LCD with some elastic bands and superglue im afraid.

laptop screens are reasonably easy to install just take your time and be methodical, remember they hide screws in ungodly places and it might be a good idea to note where each came from. you'll have to remove the nuts on vga and serial ports too, and remember its not a successful install if you dont have a couple of screws left over.

As already said. Your screen has had it,
Check on various auction sites for a replacement and the guide above will sort you out.

Also make sure you run a full scandisk on the hard drive, as that could have received a knock.

If you attempt to send it back under warranty they will say user damage and charge you for it.

One other thing to consider, do you have contents incurance on your home? Does it cover accidental damage. You could get it sorted on that. Depending on the excess of course.

Yup....I am afraid your screen is toast my friend. If you purchase a replacement from Dell you most likely are looking at the $400-450.00 range, the screen is probably the most expensive part of your puter.
