I have a couple issues with the studio. I have the jumpy trackpad problem. Seems there is no solution.

And graphical coruption with the video card. It happens at random times to all windows and when playing games. Built in games, or other games.

Here are some good pictures of what im talking about.

    http://getsatisfaction.com/dell/topics/studio_1537_with_intel_gma_4500mhd_graphics_corruption

Im getting the corruption with all drivers, ones from dells website and updated intel drivers. Any fix for this? Can I send it back to get repaired for this?

You should definitely get Dell to replace your motherboard; that's not the kind of graphics corruption you can fix with software. Something is physically wrong with your graphics chip.

As for the touchpad, there's nothing to be done, unfortunately. It's an inherent problem of Alps touchpads.

I have not noticed the touchpad being jumpy per se; it's a little sensitive - but you get used to that. Most of the time I have a vx nano with me anyway.

I disagree with Mastershroom though; that display problem could be caused by graphics drivers - I had something similar some years ago just after upgrading drivers. However, typically if that was the case then there would be more awareness of the problem. I'd suggest contacting Dell support to see what they can do.

I'd suggest using the phone incase the display goes funny and you can't see what they are typing / doing. You can always offer to let them control your computer whilst you are on the phone.

well just an update, it does not seem that the driver was the issue. They are sending a box to send back notebook for motherboard replacement.

If it was just a driver issue why would Dell replace the mobo?

So dell service was really fast. They say that they replaced the motherboard but i still get graphical corruption as described in the OP.

Also here is what really pissed me off, there is now a scratch on the lcd! I am very particular about my screens and keep them very clean. Well anyways im now doing a system restore, and the dell tech support said. "I am sure it would take care of the video corruption and touchpad issue"

I know for sure it wont, but I will do it. They are also sending this back to the depot to replace the lcd. I really just want a refund at this point but they wouldn't do it.

Anyone know why the mobo replace didnt do anything?

If it is a driver issue, then it has nothing to do with the motherboard.

No way its a driver issue. Because this mobo was already replaced and still has same problem.

I dont think that every 4500 has this problem. but maybe the studios with 1537 and 4500 just have this issue? But i would think more people would complain about it.

There is nothing inherently wrong with the 1537 and Intel 4500MHD.

And like I said, replacing the motherboard has nothing to do with drivers.

Exactly -- My 1537 with the GMA 4500MHD is pretty darn perfect, to be honest with ya. Especially with the fixed "firmware" so that the media buttons dont stick on boot. I really do like this laptop A LOT!

No graphical corruptions here at all -- 1537, 4500MHD, Windows 7 RC.

I have the exact same problem on my Latitude E4200 with the 4500MHD. I am running Windows 7 x64 and the problem appears both with the original microsoft drivers and the latest intel drivers from windows update. I hope nothing is wrong with my graphics chip. I found that I can stop the corruption by disabling the aero desktop and all it's effects, but then it doesn't look as nice.
