What's the deal with the SSD option in new laptops? I can't configure the M1330 with SSD. Is Dell discontinuing all SSDs? I can't find them in the other XPS laptop either.

Dell does not manufacturer their own SSDs. When Dell is having trouble getting certain parts for laptops (i.e. Samsung cannot fulfill Dell's order for SSDs) sometimes they remove the options to prevent users from ordering something that cannot be fulfilled for some time.

In any case, you are almost always going to be better off upgrading to an SSD on your own. Dell uses Samsung SSDs that do not perform as well as the newer SSDs that are usually cheaper than the cost of Dell's asking price.
