Hey I ordered a 1530 on December 29th, and it should ship out tommorow they said. If I don't like it, can I return it and order a whole new one? I got the 1280x800 screen but I am thinking about getting the 1440x900 and I think I found a better deal for it.

Yes i believe there is a satisfaction period, 21days? It still says 30 on the 'terms and conditions' page though.

Its 21 days from the INVOICE date...not the day you receive it. so in reality its less then 21 days.

Are you sure? I was told it was from the time you recieve it. I am being told mine won't ship until the 18th..so i only have 3 days to decide if i like it??

it's either from when it's shipped or when you receive it, but i know it's not from the invoice. and gman it will ship out way before then, I ordered mine on the 29th and it is supposed to ship out the 11th, but I called them today and they said it is in the final testing stage and should be shipped out tomorrow.

It is DEFINATELY from the invoice date. The invoice date is usually a day or two before it ships...NOT the day you placed the order. The 21 days DOES NOT start from the day you receive it. You can see your invoice online, or you can just ask a dell CSR rep. This is also stated on the dell website under the return policy.

It's officially from invoice date, but the CSRs are usually pretty lenient about it and usually will accept a return within 30 days if you're nice about it.

FYI....this was taken from the dell website regarding returns. Your credit card is not charged until the Laptop is built and ready to ship. So the invoice date is usually the day or a day before it ships. It does not say anywhere that the 21 days begin from day it was received. I know this through personal experiences trying to return a laptop. In reality you may have anywhere from 15-18 days.

21 days in the US or 7 Days in the UK.
You could just cancelit before it ships but alas I'm sure you want to see whether you can live with the 1280x800 screen first. -
Can someone clarify...what if I use the laptop for 2 weeks or so. Is there a restocking fee if I decide to return it?

In the UK, the law states that all items bought online can be returned within 30 days, with no questions asked.
It's because the customer is not able to see/test the product when they buy it online. Therefore, they need a reasonable period of time to see if they are satisfied with the product. If returned within 30 days, the customer has the right to refuse to pay restocking fees.
I think the US might have a similar law, but I can't say for sure since I have never studied it. -
Its NOT 30 days under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 as you would think it be as its the DSRA 2000 that applies here.
S.11(2)Where the supplier complies with regulation 8, the cancellation period ends on the expiry of the period of seven working days beginning with the day after the day on which the consumer receives the goods.
2005 ammendmants: Regulation 8 of the principal Regulations is amended so that the supplier is no longer required to inform the consumer, prior to the conclusion of a contract for services, that he will not be able to cancel once performance of the services has begun with his agreement. Instead, the supplier must, in such cases, provide the consumer with information as to how the right to cancel may be affected if the consumer agrees to performance beginning less than seven working days after the contract was concluded. This information must be provided prior to or in good time during the performance of the contract.

The better deal is $400 off of a XPS 1530. I like it better than the $669 deal because all you have to buy is a 3 year warranty which I would of gotten anyways. You can get 1GB of ram, 120GB hard drive, instead of making you get 3GB of overpriced ram and a 250GB hard drive which is way more than I need.
