Hi everyone,
I'm rather new to this particular forum, but I would like to introduce myself as an external representative of Dell. By external, I mean that I am a contractor that provides onsite warranty repair and diagnosis for systems that Dell could otherwise not reach. I would like to offer my help in troubleshooting and diagnosing. Unfortunately, being an external representative, my tools and links to news and development are very limited. However, I'll do my best to help pinpoint issues and direct you in the right direction of support.
Thanks,
Gabe

Do you know if there is a revised heatsink being designed for the m1330 to stop the GPU reaching 105 degrees C during use? -
Hi Kreeeee,
Currently, I haven't been informed about any changes to the heatsink. Normally, as a technician, we often are the last to find out. I'd imagine that because of it's design, a new revision of the bios with adjusted fan tables would be used instead of a new heat sink design.
The chipset, video card, and processor all share the same heat sink, as you may have noticed. It's not uncommon for the temperature to be on the high side having all three chips sharing the same heat. I'm sure the development team is aware and currently looking for a solution.

Welcome GabeZ!
I love how Dell has people searching forums for problems that customers have. It really shows that they do care and are trying to reach out as much as possible to their customer base and support them.
Again, welcome to the forums! -

Hey GabeZ, I mailed Dell Saturday to ask if they could send me some new RAM sticks or have a technician repair it. I still haven't received an answer, even though I always receive a reply within 24h. Does this mean that they have just sent the RAM sticks without replying?

Welcome!
Hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi GF[BE],
Normally, RAM sticks are a CRU (Customer replaceable unit). You may want to call and find out if they are going to provide onsite service (this can be requested). Usually they provide a DPS number related to your repair. I would suggest calling to make sure that they actually received your request, and that they are working to help you resolve it.

hey GabeZ and welcome to the forum!
I was wondering if you could help me with an issue of fan control. I have an xps1530 [spec: t9300, 3gig of ram and a 256 8600gt geforce] - my problem is that when the temp hits about 70 on the gpu the fans go off, i'd like to adjust this so they go off when temp is around 75 as I find the fans to be quite loud and annoying. If you could help me with that it'd be great! [I've tried adjusting them with I8kFanGui but no such luck.]
Anyways, great to have on you onboard! -

Hi Zet,
First, I would recommend checking to see if you have the most current version of the BIOS. As you may already know, the BIOS is what controls the operation and speed of the fans. Also, although there are third party applications that allow you to manipulate fan speed, it is not recommended. Altering the speed and frequency can cause your fans to prematurely wear outside of normal operation.

I appear to have the A08 bios which looks to be the latest. The BIOS settings do not appear to have any way to alter the fan speed. Any other ideas?
