Well, this morning I got on chat and asked for a replacement system. There was some problems with my touchpad and keyboard. If anybody has gotten a replacement from Dell, is there a way to track it's status or anything? I haven't received any emails. So, if you have ever gotten a replacement from Dell, could you please post your experience.

Anybody know if you are supposed to receive a confirmation email when you order a replacement?

Im fairly sure it can take up to 24-48 hours for a replacement order to process, meaning for it to show on your account and for you to get an email.

First off, being on chat this morning probably wont entitle you to a replacement system. It seems they are a little more stringent.

I have a replacement system on route.

It took me 3 motherboards, 3 hard drives, 2 dvds and 2 batteries before they consideed a letter i submitted asking for a replacement.

I am now one of only a few that have had the request granted.

If they agree, they will notify you to ensure proper address and configuration. You will get no notification but it will show up in your dell acccount page under 'My Orders' as an exchange system.

Can I confirm...who on chat told you that you were getting a replacement system and how did it come about???

Wha type of warranty do you have?

I have nothing on my account either. DHL delivered my laptop to Dell Saturday morning. So I'll give it until Tuesday before I call Dell to ask what's up.

I chatted with Dell about my 1400's wiggly battery and they immediately volunteered to send me a new system. To look up the status I logged into my Dell account, went to the order status page, clicked Find My Customer Data, entered my billing information, and it gave me the order number for the replacement system which I used to look up the estimated ship date.

I think we have different situations Tofu. I had to send mine back so they could replace the screen and video card. I think they mail you a new system then you mail back your old one.

I was on chat pretty much all this morning. I told them about the headphone port whine, and they set me up for remote assistance. Some girl named Chinky un-installed my sound drivers for some reason. She restarted my system and after that I couldn't play any sound at all. So I went and downloaded the driver from Dell's site and reinstalled it. I got on chat and she told me that she is going to replace my system. She asked for my current address and phone number. Then she told me that the UPS guys were going to stop by with my replacement system, and that when they come I should give them the defective notebook.

I just got off the phone with a dell rep. When I told them my whole computer is wobbly (uneven feet or something) they pretty much immediately volunteered a replacement over any repair. So in 3-5 business days the rep said I should get my new system. Only took 45 minutes too... I'm impressed with Dell for once.

I did a chat and complained about my video problem, and I was immediately offered a replacement. No troubleshooting, no nothing else...just immediate replacement with a promise of receipt of the new machine within 3-5 business days :)
