This is part idiocy on my part not forcing my parents to get me the Macbook I had oh so dearly prayed for since being introduced to Apple and letting them get me a Dell.
I sent my Inspiron 1525 in to get the screen replaced because it was loose, the bottom replaced because screws would fall out, and something done about the over heating. Too many problems for only having the lappy for almost exactly 9 months.
I received a box about a month ago from Dell to send in my worn out laptop and kept pushing it off and pushing it off needing my laptop for various things. A few days ago though I got a new box and sent my laptop off to the Repair Depot.
The only problem is that the person who took my information for the box didn't give me a tracking number. So I have to wait two days! ((by which time the laptop could probably be back in my possession)) for Dell people to contact their repair depot and find out about the where abouts of my laptop.
I'm not entirely worried about the entire thing because I did remove my hard drive and I would be more than happy to just build another one and swap out hard drives.
But I'm still a bit tight in the chest.
I sent through FedEx...
Do I need to be worried??

Please read my "Dell depot service" thread.

You can call Dell and ask them the status.
I didnt know Dell used FedEx, i thought only DHL.
Well, just hope they didnt give you the wrong address, like they did me. They then lost my laptop, etc etc. HERE. -
I actually posted this after I got off of the chat with Dell...I'll try and call them tomorrow...see if I can talk to someone who is actually in America.

well then I give up on them...they don't even tell you on their website anywhere where the repair depot is so i can't tell fedex to track it an alternative way.
does anyone know? -
Just because they arent in america, doesnt mean they wont give you the status, you know. Im sure you will be able to get an answer.
If you have a case number, put it in at Dells website. They should provide details and possibly shipping/tracking information as well as the Status. -
In the box was there a label for you to put on the box or was it already pre-labelled? On the backing from the label, there should have been a shipper receipt #, receipt #, and shipper #. One of those numbers, is the tracking number.
-
Where at the website??
-
I have those numbers next to me...
-
-
Use the receipt number at fed ex tracking. I believe that one is for tracking shipments.

Thank you so much TLC! *sigh* I thought I would never find out where it was, FedEx got me a detailed location of it using the receipt number, and it arrived at the repair depot yesterday.
Thank you guys so much. -
You're welcome. I hope you get your laptop back. Mine appears to have been sold out of the US and they claim its damaged and cant be repaired.
-
That sucks...Part of me isn't worried about getting it back or not...cause I took the HD out so I could just build another one and yeh...but it does suck.
-
Glad you got it working.
Your Welcome. -
