I am asking for people's opinions on buying anything ceritified refurbished from Dell Outlet. I am seeing some incrediable deals but am leary of the word "refurbished". Some are built with the 256MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 graphics card which I am assuming is one of the top graphics cards on the market right now. Again I am not very knowledgeable in this area like most all of you are.

i have had 2 refurbished dells. a inspiron 5100 and a inspiron e1705 as an exchange unit for my inspiron 9100. both systems i did have problems but not more then if i had bought new. a refurbished unit is either a cancelled order, returned unit (within 21 day customer satisfaction gurantee) or something was wrong with a part so it was repaired and now a refurbished computer. there is nothing wrong with these units and would be a great choice if you are looking at saving some $$$. I would highly suggest that you obtain the extended warrenty just to play it safe.

Or at least make sure you get more than a 90 day warranty like preferably a year.

Will Dell allow a trade in of a desktop for a laptop I wonder? Man you have to be quick when buying a refurb, I was planning on buying one but as I refreshed the page the listing for it vanished.

Be careful. Sometimes you can buy a new laptop with all the discounts cheaper than buying a refurbished one. And you get the latest and greatest technoloby to boot!

Yeah when Dell Outlet has some of their promotions going, machines disappear within 30 seconds (even while you are looking the details). Just keep watching...I did and got a great deal on my XPS M140. It was certified refurbished...came looking brand new with a refurbished sticker on the bottom..also came with a 1 Year XPS Warranty.

    Good Luck!
