I'd like to know if this LCD screen is capable of producing clear image and quality of picture and if it is sutable for forking on opened sun - outdoors.

    thank you

I would to! I hear it's not as good at the WUXGA 17" on the e1705.

i've used both glossy and matte screens in the sun and neither work. if you want to work in the sun, you'll be unhappy.

similar sized LCDs used across model lines are the same. Dell does not buy different LCDs for different lines of notebook (latitude v. inspiron). so, for example: if you have a 15.4" inch Latitude (like the 820), you'll have the same LCD as someone with a 15.4" inch Inspiron. granted, dell uses a couple different vendors for LCDs, but there's nothing different or special about the LCD you get on a Precision, Latitude, or Inspiron.

in any case, to answer the OP again, there really are no notebooks that work well in direct sunlight. if you just mean outside, but in shade or something else, then it's more workable although not ideal.

this question has been asked before and someone posted about a specialty notebook or aftermarket LCD (can't exactly remember which) that is designed to work in the sun. try a forum search to find it.

Does the M90 WUXGA screen have a different finish than the e1705? The reviews on the e1750 say it's bright and sharp, and the only review I've found for the M90 mention it has light leakage and the contrast is not great.

Both have light leakage. e1705's screen has glossy finish, while m90's is matte.

Oh, Is the light leakage bad?

It probably depends on the definition of "bad". Search through the forums for user opinions on e1705's light leakage. Here is the review of M90 with some impressions about the screen
