    Dell Precision 7710 fan whine no- anyone else?

    Hello,

    I have a Dell Precision 7710 and the fan makes a high pitched whine, which is especially noticable when the fan turns on and is on the lowest setting. When the fan is off the laptop is completely silent.

    Anyone has this same issue, or is it just my laptop?

    And this is how it looks in Adobe Audition spectral display, you clearly see the whine around 1.6 khz:

    As you can see on notebookcheck, their laptop did not exhibit any similar noise pattern:

    FYI: I had Dell replace the fans today and the laptop is now almost silent even when the fans are on.
    Only a faint "swooshing" sound is heard, absolutely no whine.

    Sounds like a bearing issue. Happens from time to time, especially pronounced for things that rotate at high speeds. Glad you had it resolved though.
