Ok, so I was searching the Dell website for a backup power supply for my new 700m and couldn't locate it. Just checking the specs printed on my current PS I need a 65 Watt supply, 19.5V - simple enough... So I did a search and came with 3 different power supplies meeting this criteria:

DELL - 65-Watt AC Adapter for Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
DELL - 65-watt AC Adapter for Dell Latitude D-Family Notebooks and Insp 300m, 500m, and 600m.
DELL - 65-watt AC Adapter for Dell Latitude D-400/ 500/ 600/ X300 Notebooks and Precision M20 Mobile Workstation

None of them specifically for the 700m... No big deal, but then I noticed something interesting - when you look at all 3 of them PS's, while they list different Dell Part #'s, they all list the same Manufacturer Part #'s: 1X917. If that number is the same it would seem to me that they are all using the same exact part they just differentiate it so by the PC type.. (the pictures of them look identical and are identical to the PS I received w/ my 700m...)

Heres the best (or worst) part (depending on how you look at it) - if by having the same manufacturer part # they are acutally the same item - they list THREE different prices for it! $29.00, $31.00 and $38.00!!!! WHY??? ITS THE SAME PART???

Better yet, to take this one step further - I CALLED Dell to find out what the part Number is for the 700m power supply, they told me it is N2765 (its not available online for some reason), but the specs are the same and its only $24.95?!?!?! So if this is the same as the other 3 WHY IS IT A DIFFERENT PRICE? Why would they charge someone more who bought an M20 than they would for someone who bought a 700m - the unit is the same?

Again - I might be wrong, the manufacturer part # being the same might NOT have anything to do with it (although its confusing).. but if it is; then somethings screwed up!

(If anyone can confirm, I'm curious if I can get any of them for my 700m)... i HATE talking to Dell Support; they are of no help to me and I know if I asked them this question they wouldn't be able to answer correctly... just wondering if anyone else tried ordering a different PS and had it work).
