Yup I think the M1330 represents the best value/tech as you get the LED screen and top end processor. I need a higher res (for development work) so will likely go with the M1530 but would like LED and Penryn combo.
or if Dell takes too long I'm really tempted by Alienwares m15x!

Oh, they'll cancel your order alright, but make sure they remove the hold on funds from your account. I canceled an order from them, but had to call back a week later to get the hold removed.
-
The hold is automatically removed by the bank after something like 5 days... don't think there is a way to remove the hold otherwise...

Wurger reports that Dell Australia is now offering a free Penryn upgrade on a preconfigured XPS 1330 (offer ends Feb. 7):

ok well I didnt order last night.... and this morning nothing!
no Penryn, no LED, no Discounts and even less configuration options for screen res.
oh dear I cant see Dell shifting many units in these configurations -
-
EDIT: Hope they let you pick a lower end processor as well though. I don't care so much about 200Mhz speed improvement as much as battery life and heat savings. -

Just Dell getting too creative with Photoshop work I think.

I wonder what happens with orders of M1330 or M1530 that haven't shipped yet if Penryn is released. Once Dell switches to a new processor don't they upgrade all unshipped units?
-
Nope, they usually have lots of the older chips they are trying to sell and clear inventory.

You can return the entire system within 21 or 30 days depending on where you live. Most times Dell does not charge a restocking fee, you might have to say you are unhappy with the system rather than saying you want to upgrade your processor.
They will not change your processor as far as I know. -
I can't wait any longer! What's holding them up? Do I really need to buy a Sony, HP or IBM? Dell is one of the largest PC makers and they can't ship Penryn CPUs in Europe?
-
They wont just change your processor like that. You will be lucky if you can pay extra to have the processor upgraded to Penryn, since they rarely do that either.
Best bet is to return the system if its within 30 days, and re-order. -

Dell to start shipping Penryn within a week..... -
or not....
-
Will Penryn work with current m1330 motherboard?
-
yes today's Penryns will so long as you have the latest bios, Dell offer them as an option now in most countries except the UK.
-
So generally everywhere apart from whole Europe :/
-
Penryn has dropped today for the D630!! Too bad it hasn't reached Dell Premier yet.
-
well penryns are officially in polish webconfig service for m1330... here's the shot. aah, there was no manipulation, no retouching, zip, nada, no modifications.

prices are in PLN... -
Nothing for the m1530! - only in Australia, the US and UK *still* have nothing. What's the hold up Dell ?
Dang, if it doesnt turn up in March I may as well wait for the May/June Intel Refresh.
Dell Penryn?
