For the ppl that bought from Dell Outlet, are you happy with your laptop?

Also what type of laptop did you get: Refurbished or Previously Ordered New from the outlet.

If you got Refurbished where there any major defects. They say "observable cosmetic imperfections, but they will not affect performance" but just wanted to make sure.

Also anyone have problem with getting a warrenty covered?

    Thanks

I've known a few people who bought theirs from Dell Outlet and they love their machines. They did get 2 or 3 yrs warranty though, just in case. And I've bought 1 for a friend and have had no problems thus far. All these are refurbs, I think the 1 I got for a friend was brand new but someone returned it. Battery worked well and description of the product including both hardware and software were accurate.

I got a refurbished 700m from them some time ago. Died in two weeks but externally was in great shape.

They can be great deals, but I learned this lesson: stress and test the laptop as soon as you get it. Make sure everything works the way it should.

I got my Precision M70 off of the outlet and I am happy with it. It is a refurb with scratch and dent. On the lid it has a few scratches around the release latch, but otherwise was new looking. Warranty wise it is fine. The Precision and Latitude line include a three year next business day on site warranty, and Dell doesn't differentiate just because you purchased it as refurbished. As far as reliability I would say they are fine. I haven't had needed any service done for the nine months I have owned the machine.

A hint about the outlet. Periodically you will see machines that are significantly discounted, even below what other models of similar or less specification are selling on the outlet. They do this because the machine has been returned multiple times. Each time it is returned to the outlet, an additional 10% is marked down before it is sold again. My M70 was such a case, it was $988 after tax, which was pretty decent because they configured out to about $2500 new when they were last available to order on the site. Once I recieved the machine I did notice that the warranty history had been started and stopped not once but three times in the past year.

Yea, I too am considering buying from the outlet... I'm spying a few D620's and am wary of buying lemons....

So the deeply discounted units are usually being returned over and over... :(

That kinda scares me. The base warranty on the D620 is a mail in...I think onsite next day is like $99 for 3 years.. Is the service worth it?

i got my e1405 WXGA/T2300E/1GB/100GB/DVD-RW/IntelPRO $669 Shipped 7 months ago and i love it , there's no problem with it (yet). The only thing that differes from the new notebook of DELL is the red label on the bottom of the notebook saying reffurbished, it looks as brand new.If i need other notebook i'll definatelly go with the outlet. Yes it is Certified Ref.

I got a D420 from the outlet...no sound. Dell didn't know what to do after replacing the speaker so now they are replacing it...I think.

Hmmm... if a unit is returned multiple times, wouldn't that be a pretty good indicator that something is wrong with that particular unit?
