So... I finally ordered a refurbished Vostro 1500 from the Dell Outlet store. I leave the country on monday, so imagine how psyked I was when I received it today. I open the box, and it looks sweet. A bit thick, but sweeet. Then I notice a gap in the right side. Huh... they forgot to put in a DVD-drive that's part of the deal. Huh. There's a gap on the right side above the keyboard. huh. Their hotline is closed, so tomorrow (Wednesday) is the day I can get a hold of them. Huh... I leave monday... DAMN!

They normally will overnight parts if/when there is a screw up that bad. Stress its either an overnight, or a full return :D.

Well if it was just the DVD-drive missing, I wouldn't be worried. But the gap in the chassis is what gets me. I don't want a computer with a gap or a flaw in the chassis. And I presume they will have to give me a new laptop to fix that one, or at least have the computer in for repair.

So I talked to Dell for a little over an hour today. It actually took them that long to confirm my name and address, and to take a note of what's missing/wrong with my new laptop. A bit pathetic if you ask me.
Anyway... the guy was nice enough, and they're gonna send me the DVD-drive and a new piece of plastic that they say is causing the gap. I removed the pice while on the phone with them, and told them that nothing seemed broken or damaged with it, but they didnt't seem to wanna talk about that :)

I'm gonna get it tomorrow, then I'll see if that fixes everything. Otherwise it's back to Dell and then I have to buy a differen notebook :(

One thing that does concern me though... it's running SO slow. Occationaly it runs okay, but it takes forever to boot up, and sometimes it takes 2-4 minutes just to open IE, and sometimes it just freezes and I have to do a hard reboot. I tried to remove all the stuff that wasn't drivers and such, no difference. I hope a clean install of the Vista Home Premium that I own can help, but I can't really try it before I get a DVD-drive :)
