My Vostro 1400 is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow so I can give you a total rundown then. I'm excited though because I've heard a lot of good things about the outlet. It's still covered under the normal warranty so anything that might be wrong with it you can still have fixed just like a custom purchase.

I've ordered a Scratch & Dent Inspiron E1705 from the outlet and it was in perfect condition. I didn't find a single scratch or dent. :) I also have a refurb 1720 on the way. I love Dell Outlet. :D

If I had to do it all over again (dealing with Dell-ays, customer service probs, etc.) I would've ordered my refurbished laptop right from the beginning. It came in MINT condition, I've had it over a month with ZERO problems, LOVE IT!!

I have had good experiences with refurbs from major technology companies.

I figure, the first thing that usually goes wrong, already has and has had it fixed. Generally you get bad solders or dodgy capacitors. If they get repaired, the refurb can be stronger and more solid than the OEM.

I'm typing this on a refurb Apple MacMini that I got two years ago, overclocked, and have had running nearly 24x7. It's rock solid. If my Vostro 1500 ends up half as solid (which can't happen on Windows, but that's not the hardware's fault), I'll be ecstatic.
