A friend of mine returned a Dell laptop he recently purchased. I wanted to buy it off him for near full price but he opted to send it back. It was in perfect condition and nothing wrong with it.

Can any Dell employees or anyone on these boards comment on how long it might be before it would appear in the outlet as I am very interested in purchasing it. Also, what kind of discount does Dell offer as an "open box" item.

He said Dell received it today and is processing his return. I suspect it would take a few days to inspect the laptop and post it on the outlet for re-sale?

Do all open box items go to the outlet?

Like someone mentionned, keep refreshing the page.
And yes Dell outlet systems are cheaper and they are priced depending on their condition (Dell outlet New---> Refurbished---->Scratch and dent).
Also keep and eye on Dell Outlet Twitter account. Every couple days they come with a % off coupon for the outlet. It can go up to 35% !

A few days! Give them a call too. I believe the customer service reps receive updates on stock more quickly.
