I recently ordered a laptop from the Outlet and a few days afterwards I get a e-mail from Dell informing me that my order has been delayed.

I thought it was kinda strange all together because first they sent me a e-mail notice informing me that my order was "In Production"

Aren't the laptops in the Outlet already produced, boxed and ready to go? I mean, how can they know what to list for sell on the Outlet if they don't have it on hand already? In the past I've ordered several laptops from the Outlet with no problems what so ever and received them very quick so I kinda assumed that this is the way it works but it's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks in my book. :)

Glad I'm in no hurry to get this particular laptop or I might would call and cancel the order. Really would hate to do that cause I got a really sweet deal. Anyway, just sharing my order experience here to see if any of you might have experienced a similar delay with a Outlet order.

Update - The original order estimated delivery date was on or around the 30th of September.

With the delay e-mail, Dell informed me that they are confident that I should receive my order on or around the 5th of October.

    I received it on the 29th. Bahahaha......go figure :)

Same thing just happened to me, ordered a Latitude E5520 from the SMB Outlet on 9/29 and it was scheduled to be delivered on 10/05. I received the delay notice today and now it's scheduled for 10/10. If I could get a similar computer for the same price I would also cancel but reality is I would have to pay $250-300 more for a similarly equipped laptop so I'm going to wait it out.
