Dell Order Success Stories

I'm making this thread to somehow instill hope in those who are still in the build stage, and keep getting delayed over and over. So let us all know your GOOD stories.

My 1420 is in the boxing stage, and it should be here in 2 days!

 

Ordered as below.
Six days from order to delivery (including two days over a weekend). I should mention that I only had the 3-5 day shipping as well.

No problems with the laptop AT ALL. Good luck w/ your 1420!

 

I ordered my Vostro on the 2nd of august.
I paid on the third,
Production was started on the fourth.
Production finished on the 7th
Shipped from factory on the 7th.

I'm happy but it took a bit of annoying the dell rep to push the order through.

 

Which country are you in?

 

I'm in Australia.

 

I might be one of the lucky ones. At least as far as it comes to receiving the unit. Below are the order details for my spanking new M1330:

How do you get that order status picture? I would like to know exactly where mine is!

 

From what I'm hearing only the factory in south-east asia has the supplies to respond to demand quickly where the american one and the one in ireland are having difficulty sourcing the parts.

Do you know where the Aussie Inspiron orders are being built?

 

Based on the time my order has been in boxing, and since I have next-day shipping, is it realistic to think that it might be here tomorrow?

 

Not quite sure but i'd assume the same place as the vostros for aus

Yeah, that would make sense, considering the call centre is in Malaysia.

Hmm tried that link that armchaircommando gave, trying various verification data that I have, and all I can get is that Dell don't have an order for the time frame I specified... very possibly the fact that I'm trying an AU order on the US order status checker, that is causing this.

I was hoping for a diagram/pic for my own order.

 

Ordered July 30th, ESD of August 20th. Told a few different dates by different CSR's, and then was finally delayed until August 31st. Yesterday I was told it was in Texas and is on it's way into Canada.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the Dell CSR's and their dates if I were you.

I ordered on the 2nd on August. It went into Build within an hour and by the next morning it was in Boxing. DHL has my package now and will be delivering it tomorrow.

And I thought they had a shortage on LCD screens. Apparently not if people are getting theirs a couple days after they ordered.

 

shortage is on the 14 inch LCDS not for the 15 inch.

 

I'm in the US, not in Korea, but I have almost exactly the same experience. Ordered 7/23, received today 8/7, exactly two weeks later. The three extra weekdays compared to yours are presumably partly due to the longer distance from Malaysia.

Mine is black but otherwise the same specs (wled, 2.2GHz).

 

I was told yesterday that there is a shortage on the 17" screens & that is whats holding up my order. It is obvious that the hold up is not the screens, but the colored cases...

umm, well I am getting a 15 inch and my case manager emailed me saying that my order is being delayed due to a screen shortage

 

okay then everyone is being affected by the screen shortage then. CSR needs to get their info straight...

 

Apparently this isn't just DELL, people. From what I've read, Sager and HP are reporting the same problem with screen shortages.

 

hmm...i ordered my laptop on the 6th,it is showing shipped from factory on the 7th itself...just wondering, how many more days will it take before i finally get it? im in India btw, ordered a vostro 1500 love the forums btw and the estimated date was 27th august, now its come down to 26th now...

My Inspiron 1520 order was in build less than 20 hours ago, and has now gone through work in progress, manufacturing build complete and is now at ship from factory, and says it is currently loading for export. Estimated delivery is 14 Aug - Less than a week!

From what other people's experiences I've seen here, this so far looks like an order success!

Wow. I hope to god that goes for me im in boxing now have been since 4 hours ago.

Take into mind that I did submit my order on 28th of July, and it took a few hassles for Dell to find the payment, I think. I had to make a number of calls the last few days and yesterday I found a very nice CSR who was very keen and actually put in much effort to make sure my order went through and was processed.

I'm excited!

Would you mind posting some pics when you get it? With the speed of your order, I am not sure if many people will be able to believe you.

I want to believe you. Our orders are similar and I am still in pre-production (placed @ 5:00 pm CST). I am sure I will be in production tomorrow.

No worries, I sure will post some pics' if you'd like, when I get it.

I'm remembering, though, that Dell notes that you need to know that the delivery dates can change without notice. Though, if it's up to the stage they say it is, then I'd think that delivery date would be about right...

Also, maybe it's possible that soon after I submitted my order, Dell have began to assemble the order, without telling me, as they were still waiting on payment(which I assume they have found in the last few days).

Ouch... my bad!

 

Yeah, the payment took a long time, that's the reason it's taken so long. But, when I checked the status over the phone, less than 24 hours ago, I was told it was in build, and since then it has been built and sent from the factory! I think that's pretty quick.

Lmao I don't quite understand how their chat system works either, it's a real person but do they have auto-mated responses to certain questions or what? For instance:

My Laptop's estimated delivery date has been extended by two days. I'm not happy about that but such as life.

 

Because I payed via Direct Deposit using my online banking. I made the deposit pretty much right after I submitted my order, and somehow I think they either had trouble finding it in their account, or perhaps the deposit takes a few days to show up in their account.

Anyway, I called Dell quite a number of times, and at one stage I was told my order was cancelled, so I sent them details of the deposit I made, to try and have Dell return my money to me.

A few days later when I called, I was told that my order wasn't canceled(still confuses me!), so yesterday I was instructed to send the deposit details through to a very nice CSR, and she forwarded that onto the finance department, who have now processed the payment and allowed the order to be built.

And it's now on its' way, I assume!

 

Ordered July 24, scheduled to arrive at my doorstep tomorrow. So that would be 10 business days/2 weeks (including weekends). Nothing extraordinary, but no delays to speak of. (3-5 day shipping).

 

Do you think my order possibly might get shipped today?

Everyone is so lucky! I ordered mine the 8th of July, ship date was the 26th.. and STILL not shipped! I was told today on that chat thing that theres an 8 day hold on all 1520s.. so it could be ANOTHER 8 days until it's shipped

I ordered my green 1520 on July 25 and somehow it arrived a mere week later on August 2, my birthday.

He he. Same here, I think I should have mine by monday. I went to the Star Track Express trace and track page and kept entering different consignment numbers that I could see were related to my order, and I eventually got it . Star track currently estimate delivery(to the depot in my town) for the 13th - Monday - but for some strange reason Dell's estimate is the 16th. :S

 

Ordered mine (Vostro 1400) on the phone Aug 2nd. Checked this morning and its on the delivery truck, will be there when I get home from work. Expected Shipping Date was 8/13 so its in a full weekend early - get the weekend to play with it!

I have had no problems at all with Dell yet. Hopefully the laptop has no problems.

btw, I'm in Canada
