I recently placed an order for a Vostro 1700, in the UK. I placed the order on the 20/02/08, the dell online order status checker says:
Pre-Production as of 21/02/08
Your Order is being prepared for production.
A few hours after I few placed the order, dell had already taken the payment for laptop, does that normally happen so quickly? I now have recieved an EDD of 10/03/08.

Mine has the same specs as yours. Order placed on 18th Feb, payment taken a week later, and the estimated delivery time WAS 6th Mar until this morning it changed to 8th Apr! Called three times and all reps said there is nothing they can do. Apparently they are still waiting on some parts to arraive. Didn't know it would take Dell one and a half month to build one laptop, so good luck buddy. Hope your luck is not as bad as mine.
