Can you guys tell me if the On-site service offered by Dell is good? Do these guys fix the problem on-site or do they just check and recommend that the laptop needs to be mailed for repair. What is average length of time it takes for each of these services? Thanks a lot

mail-in takes about a week, they pay for everything. I like it so I do not have to wait for the technician. Onsite is better if you can not wait to have things fixed. Mail-in is if it is a computer which you can go without for a week

I like on-site because it saves your computer the wear and tear of being shipped. I've had techs send my 700M back with the padding for a 17" notebook, so I know it was shifting around in the box.

Thats a good point. Didn't think of it when ordering. Do you know how much Dell charges for an upgrade from mail-in to on-site? Thanks a lot.

well for four years it is like 150 dollars which is a bargain. (that is the deal I got). But the thing is when they send it I got a foam which is able to be customized for anysize notebook. If anything gets damaged in transit they will try to fix it or give you credit
