I'm not sure where to post this so feel free to move it to the right section.

I have a Dell SP2309W monitor hooked up to my laptop. I use the USB hub on it to connect both a keyboard and a mouse. Everything worked perfectly for about 2 months, but recently the USB has been disconnecting for no apparent reason.

One day it happened every 10 minutes or so for a total of about 30 times in the same day. Then it didnt happen again for 3-4 days, then it came back a couple of times, and now it's been fine for a few days again.

I'm looking for advices on how to troubleshoot this problem. When it disconnects, sometimes it is the keyboard only, sometimes the mouse only, and sometimes both go out. Sometimes it comes back a few seconds later, other times I need to shut down the monitor and turn it on again to get back the USB. One weird thing is that most of the time when my mouse and keyboard disconnect there are still lighting up, so there is still power supply, but no response. Oh there is also a Mic on the monitor, and it disconnected once along with the mouse during a Skype conversation.

Any ideas? I live in an old apartment building (probably 70 years old) and Hydro-Quebec is not known to have the most stable power lines around, so perhaps it could be small variations in the electrical power? Or is it just that I have a bad specimen of a monitor and need to return it?

    Thanks,
    Mathieu

Have you tried connecting the monitor's hub to another system to see if the same thing happened? I've had strange issues like that on my 2007WFP, and they were software related (had to re-image my laptop and the problem would go away).
