I had Dell Mini and HDD (ie SSD) drive broke (which is a common problem with dell mini i guess,,,, as I had seen lots of articles on this problem). I got my flash (USB) drive, made it bootable with Ubuntu, but can't keep USB drive connected to netbook all the time.

    Now the question is
    1. Can Micro SD card be made bootable.
    2. Does Dell mini support booting from builtin SD card reader.
    3. Can Ubuntu be installed in Card and be used as a storage device.

The alternative is to spend $65... buy a new hard drive, but I would like to test certain things in this netbook before I get relaxed about all the issues .....

    Please suggest ....

Spend your $65... in general you can boot from SD/Micro SD cards (though I don't think the Dell Mini specifically will support booting from the card reader), but it's going to be slow. Especially if you use Micro SD.
