Should I let hubby try to fix it or send it back to Dell? I have the regular warranty without ACCIDENT coverage. I am really disappointed this happened, but it did so what next? NYWTY is my screen part # and it's a Mini 1012. I don't want to buy a screen and have it not work you know? :(

Do you think that I can run the new resolution on the old mini I have without having the HD card? I would love to upgrade to that but I don't know that it would work without the card installed. Thanks Tsunade Hime, I appreciate the info on what would happen if I sent it back to Dell. So Hubby is gonna have to try to do this. Bummer.

ETA: I went to another forum a Dell Mini one, and they have a thread on this and I saw people reporting that it works even without that HD graphics card, so that's good. I just hope that when I set this mini up to the external monitor that it's still working....

If it displays externally fine then you should be good. AFAIK it should work as long as you use the same LVDS cable.

What's a LVDS cable? Is that in the laptop? Never heard of it before....I hope that I can get a chance to test it soon, I hope that just plugging it in (the vga cable to the external monitor) and turning on th ecomputer will make it display...Worried it might not work, so I need to test it soon...Kid is home for spring break though so I am leery of messing with it near him. He's the reason it's busted to begin with....

ETA: It still works! It booted with it hooked to an external monitor! I am so relieved, so we will go ahead and order the new screen from bliss computers. :) Thanks again for the link to it Tsunade Hime! So much relief....
