    Hey guys,

so today I was lucky enough for Dell to give me the little balloon pop-up in the bottom right hand corner saying I have an update for my BIOS... I download the file and begin the installation.

After opening up an internet explorer I notice my mini has frozen.. I freak out and wait for an hour, hoping it will clear up. I come back to my mini and find it still frozen.

I hit the power button to manually turn off and reboot. Upon hitting the power button to turn the mini on, the bios does not load and windows does not load.. all i get is a blank screen. At the bottom left hand side of the mini, the indicator light turns on telling me that there is power going through the system.. Any ideas? Call Dell? Try booting up via usb drive (put bios on usb)? Let me know your thoughts! All help is appreciated!

It has been reported that a failed BIOS flash on the Mini is recoverable but this has not been confirmed yet...

Thanks somms! Yah, my friend and I have been trying to do that via the USB... So far no good but I'm going to try one more time before going to bed. Thanks again! (Hopefully someone will be able to write a new code for a USB... floppy's are too oldschool.. guess I'll check craigslist and ebay for used flobby disks and readers...)

Thanks Cin! I sure hope so... You can do the bios update, just be careful... I'm sure I'm the 1 in a million guy who bricked their mini with this update.. :( I would do some research before you choose to do so :)

NP! :D I will be careful if I chose to do this. Its too bad this has happened to you.

I'm wondering if you will end up calling Dell for a fix, since it's so new for you.

Actually, there have been dozens of failed BIOS flashes under Windoze reported over at www.mydellmini.com. You are not alone.

Thats why I can't stress enough flashing the Mini BIOS under DOS since it is so much faster & safer than under XP...

I actually called them once already.. told them the story.. and then the customer service attendant said "ok, hold on..." I waited about 10 minutes.. then was like "hello?... hello?.. HELLO?! noooo!!!" Gave up with the hellos and hung up... I was planning on trying again tomorrow.. I'm guessing I will need to send it in... which would take a long time.. so in the mean time I'm hoping to find an immediate fix. :S
