I just posted my video in another thread, and it reminded me I should probably post it here where more can see.
I purchased a Dell Mini 10v for $297 shipped on 12/14/2009 and received it in a few days. When I opened it and sat it on my desk, there was a slight problem. Even before turning it on. The entire laptop rocks back and forth like the base is warped.
So I used it for a few days. Thought I might "deal with it". But then I thought, "you know, I'm not going to let Dell screw me on this - there's no way, even with it only being a $300 netbook, that I should have to own a netbook that can't even sit on the desk without wobbling - there are other people that paid $300 and received a perfect working netbook."
That's when I called and talked to some Indian guy named "Sureandra". (This is copied from the e-mail I received after the call.) I originally wanted to return the laptop, but he talked me into a replacement and assured me that there's no way it'll ever happen again. He says he hasn't heard anyone else complain about it. I told him the only way I'd accept a replacement is if I could have Windows 7 pre-installed on the new one. So he spoke with his manager, and made it happen.
A month later, I received a new (used, returned) Dell Mini 10v from Dell. I realize it's been that "holiday time of the year", and I waited my entire month. Never called, never e-mailed, nothing. So I got the new one.
SAME PROBLEM!
Never again, Dell! These two are on their way back to Dell via UPS and I'll be waiting on a refund.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
Oh, and here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeLKVkdftBo
