When configuring a Dell laptop, is it cheaper to just get a low amount of memory and buy third party and install later?

I don't really know a whole lot, but for the most part I'd say that is the best way to go. That's what I did with my laptop, you'll definately save a few bucks that way. If your not sure what to buy though, someone else will have to take that one. Hope that helps.

You will pay about 2/3 as much buying from newegg.com as you would buying from Dell. Buy with only 256 megs, check www.crucial.com for your memory type, and then buy from newegg.
