    hello guyz
    im totally new to notebooks world :cool: i recently purchased a dell 6400
    and i formatted the hard drive and partitioned it in 2 drives C / D
    and i fixed the the mediadirect and it is working okay now but it only detects the C:/ drive and ally mp3s on my D:/ drive any way to fix that
    and the other question is is there any way to get media direct 3 rather than asking dell for it cause im in egypt and i think they ship it only to USA

    sorry for asking too many questions

    I'm not sure about your first problem so I'll leave it for others to answer. For Media Direct 3.0 I'm not sure if they'll ship it to you but you can call them up to request for it, be sure you tell them it's version 3 that is a DVD and not a CD.

    You probably need to reset MediaDirect. To do this, turn the laptop off, and press the MD button. Then press F8 several times. You should see an option to delete restoration data. Select this and reboot MediaDirect. It should detect your new media located on the spare partition.

    SG if you remember, i had a problem that I couldn't access all my music and photos and all that with MD2, you told me to reset it. I did that, but i still can't get it to work. I dont seem to like MD very much.

    Yeah I remember. The problem might be caused because the music is on a seperate partition. Users had similar problems in the past, and normally this would work but I can't remember if it helped users with 2 partitions.

    i looked at my partitions and there is only one. theres the Partition 1 which is my diagnostics..partition 2 which is like 105 gb and has windows, then there is part 3 which has my backup? and is about 4.7 gb large.

    so i dont think my music is on a seperate partition.

    Argh, this is good to know. I always like to have 2 partitions on my drives. No real need for it, I have just always done it that way and continue to do so, so that things are where I expect them to be. Not that it matters here much.

    If they won't ship to Egypt, do you have any relatives here in the states that could receive it and forward it to you?

    about the mediadirect 3 is it worth it ??

    oh btw after installing fresh copy of windows and i installed all the drivers and every thing is working but i still see under device manager that i got unknown PCI device what do u think i missed ??
