Hey guys!! I have been looking all over the web and can't find any information so i've decided to turn here to get the right info!! I have a Dell Inspiron e1705 (or 9400) I was given from a friend and I plan on putting Vista on it. Anyways, I was wondering which verision of MediaDirect is most compatible? I know 3.0 is compatible but I can't seem to get a download link for it, and I am not sure if versions 3.3 or 3.5 work. Can someone help me?

Why on earth would you want to waste your time with Mediadirect? Is there anything it can do that Windows Media Player/VLC/iTunes cannot do???

I agree, don't waste your time. You have to jump through a ton of hurdles to install it, and the startup really isn't any faster than Windows (unless you have a really messed up Windows install).

The next question should be "why on earth would you want to put Vista on your machine?" Vista is a death trap. Stay the hell away from Vista and get Windows 7.

True, but if you already have Vista, it's free, and Windows 7 might not be. In which case, if it does what you need it to (and for some people and on some hardware, Vista does)... might as well stick with it.

Do you have a MediaDirect CD? If so, it should be possible to boot from that CD and install it from there.

If that doesn't work or you don't have a CD, I'm not really sure. It's been over half a decade since I tried this.

I have a Inspiron e1505 on which I have installed Mediadirect 3 several times due to hard drive failures. You have to boot to the MediaDirect disc then you use this disc to partition/format the new hard drive after this you can install your OS(be it Vista or Win 7).
