When I first launch Dell Media Direct, I get a message saying that I should "Optimize my hard drive Multimedia for better performance before using Media Direct", or something like that.
So far, I always choose "Exit", and "Display this option on next launch"...
I'm able to view photos, videos, etc. without a problem.
Can anyone tell me what exactly "optimizing my hard drive for media performance" does exactly? Will I end up losing hard disk space? Does it really improve performance?
Thanks, I just like to know what I'm responding "Yes" to, before allowing any program to do something to my hard drive.

Hello Shel! Yes, it does take up slightly more space, though what it does is automatically record all your photos, images, videos, etc into a cache so its faster for Mediadirect to pull them up. If you think Mediadirect is already pulling your videos, photos, etc up fast enough, then you don't need to do it. Personally, I wouldnt just because I don't use mediadirect THAT often.

Thanks Forte
Yeah, the few times I've tried out MediaDirect, it's worked fast enough for me, so I'd rather not lose any disk space.
Thanks for the quick reply! -
Anytime I'm around. ^_^
