    All -

Please listen to the symptoms my Inspiron is having and let me know if any sound familiar:

I have 2 GB of RAM installed on my Inspiron 1520. Upon loading Windows (Vista home premium) I am already more than 50% used up (with very minimal installs besides Vista), and maybe 3-20 MB of Free physical memory. Then, my computer will endure seizures where by my keyboard will not respond or enter any text I type, and the only keys that will work are those assigned functions (have blue characters on them) and the media buttons along the front panel. My volume will increase to 100% immediately, and then any time I press the volume up, volume down, or play/pause media button, random crap characters are spewed onto the screen, for example: j-32jkl;\.

Anyone experience one/all of these symptoms??? Thanks!

its normal for vista to take up around 1gb of memory. Dell Media, honestly, just sucks. I would stay away from it if possible. but if you really want it, i would remove the dell media center and reinstall it with the reinstallation CD you most likely received from dell.

it's not really dell mediadirect, it's the buttons themselves, isn't it?
not that that helps much, but i would recommend emailing dell. always email dell rather than call to avoid pointless long conversations with indian call centres. you just have to wait a little longer.
