I am thinking about turning a cheap M4800 into a project laptop. It's got a M5100 GPU and I don't know if I can upgrade the screen to a 4k or UHD+... just something with IPS because the 1080p one is not bad but not great.

But I don't know how that works. I don't know if the M5100 has pin out for eDP? I know the FHD AU Optronics B156HW02 is LVDS (2pin + 6pin).

The other option is a 1080p LVDS panel with 2pin and 8pin, or 2pin and 10pin connector, but agian I don't know if the M5100 has support for that, or is it just a matter of getting a different cable?

Finally, will any of the above options work if I put a WX 4150 in? From what I have read it is a drop in replacement for the M5100. I am not sure if it has eDP so that I can upgrade the GPU?

    So options are:
    1. Upgrade to SHARP LQ156D1JW02, the official 4k panel in the M4800.. possibly needing a new cable, not sure about graphics card compatibility with the M5100 or WX 4150.
    2. Upgrade to something like LP156WF3-SLB2 (10bit) or G156HAN02.1 (8bit) at 1080p. I'd be happy with either if they would work with the WX 4150 or even the M5100
    3. No panel upgrade will work for my particular model and I should have instead gotten a Zbook G2 with more modern internals.
I think I'd prefer option 2 but I have no idea what if the cable will support the extra pins for the panel, nor do I know if the panels will even bolt on with the screw holes that is in the M4800.

    Thanks for the help!
