Hi, guys. I was wondering if the VGA Output port on the back of my M1710 can be converted to a VGA Input?

My main reason is that I want to use the Xbox 360 VGA cables and hook up my 360 to run off the monitor on my laptop. Any way to do this...? I know this is probably a stupid question but I was hoping for an expert/informed opinion before I give up on it.

Can not be done...sorry. At least not with the VGA out port. There are USB devices that can do what you are asking though...but I do not know how well they work.

The VGA out port is not designed to read input, therefore this is not possible.

You are trying to drive a LCD using VGA. A USB device is going to be 'awful' . VGA is an analog signal, a very high bandwidth one. The USB device is going to have to digitize the signal (compress), send it over the USB bus, and then the computer is going to have to uncompress it and display it. All of this requires significant processing power. The bandwidth of USB is no where near what it needs to be, so the compression is going to be significant. Also, all of this will introduce delay.

Also, there currently are no (consumer) video encoders that can do HD resolutions on the fly. You are going to be force to a relatively low resolution.

My advice, wait for the PC version of the game.
