I'm thinking of upgrading a few of the specs on my Latitude C640 to hold me over until I get my new notebook either later this year or early next year. Mainly, I want to upgrade the RAM and HDD, and maybe get a new battery, but that's not that important right now. I've been looking at newegg.com and I can get a 512 MB stick of RAM and a 60GB 5400 RPM hard drive for around $110 (before tax, etc). This seems like a pretty good deal, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions that might be a better deal.

    The specs are:
    PC 2100 266MHz RAM
    ATA-6 5400 RPM Hard Drive

    Thanks

That actually sounds cool to me. I don't think you could go much wrong there.

Make sure you have 1 dimm free to put some ram. If not you will end up with 700 mb of ram, not 1 gig. Your 512 may actually be two 256 mbs of ram. Just check before you buy.

Yeah, I've already checked, and I have 2 256 sticks, so I'll only end up with 768, but that's okay with me for now. I may upgrade to a full gig later, I may not, it just depends. At least it will be an improvement from what I've got.
