I am interested in buying the D800, which is listed under the small to medium business section of the Dell website... My main question is that, it is going to be for my personal use... do i need to somehow prove that its a business related purchase in order to buy it?

You can certainly buy from small business, the only thing is you'll need to use your social security number as your personal tax id number. The bummer with buying through Small Business is you'll pay tax while in Home you don't.
