I'm starting college in a couple of weeks and need to buy a laptop. I've narrowed the choices down to the Dell Latitude D600 and the Dell Inspiron 600m. For the same cost, I can get a better configuration for the Latitude. However, many people have told me that Dell Latitudes are for businessmen, while Inspirons are designed for students (I'm in this category). So what should I go for?

Hey Xenon. Yeah, the latitude is a better piece of machinery, and that is why it is designed for businessmen. It is usually more than a student would need, as it is better able to withstand damage thanks to metal casing for the D600. It is generally believed that businessmen will travel with their laptops more often than a student would, therefore, the laptop needs to be more sturdy. In conclusion, if you can get the D600 for cheaper, then you've stumbled upon some sort of fluke, since it is better than the 600m. There are many other posts with this same question, if you need to know more about this issue. BTW, I got a D600 a month back, and I'm starting college as well. (the only reason you might consider the 600m is if you would much prefer the 64 mb graphics card over the only one which is offered in the D600, which is the 32)
