    Dell Latitude C840 Win 98 SE Questions

    I got this laptop from a friend.

    These are the issues I get

    1. Only get 16 colors
    2. Win98 SE
    Will not shutdown/restart in setup or after. Will in safe mode. When I hit MS Dos I only get a blinking cursor

    3. Screen- It only shows middle part of screen unless I hit F2 then it gives me full screen.

    It uses a NVIDIA 64 meg Geforce 440 and I can't find drivers anywhere.

    Do you think its a hardware or software problem

    Sounds more like a software problem than a hardware problem. Probably missing drivers if you're only getting 16 colors. There are no 98 drivers for this machine on the Dell site, so while I do have a soft spot for 98 you should try a clean install with XP if you can... see if that works. Dell does provide XP drivers if needed.
