I wanted to ask if any one else might be experiencing this in their work place. We have several (and I mean several) Dell Latitude C840 that recently experienced Hard Drive crashes. Let me know if any one has heard anything concerning known issues with these. I did an internet search but to no avail.

Thanks in advance for your help.

In the office where I work, we once had a hard drive problem with a Latitude D600. We had the hard drive replaced 5 times. Five times. Failure was the cause.

Well, after the 5th time sending it in, Dell sent us another notebook - they later told us that the cause of the hard drive failure was a faulty power connector or something like that - it kept supplying too much power and/or shorting out the drive...

So, good thing that's all cleared up.

BTW, the drives started crashing right after we got the notebook and then the hard drives kept crashing within ~1 week of each other, even as short as three days.

We have a few "C" class Latitudes at the office - had them for about 3-3.5 years, and we haven't experienced any problems as of yet..

Just thought that was an interesting tidbit of information to add.
